Winter Parking Rules

November 15th through April 15th is when our winter parking regulations go in effect. As a courtesy the East Rochester Police Department may issue warning tickets prior to and during the first week.  After that, parking tickets will be issued to anyone who leaves a vehicle on the street between 3:00 am to 6:00 am whether or not there is inclement weather. This does include the Town/Village Municipal lot located at 317 Main St.  In the event that it is necessary for snow removal equipment to come out, the vehicles in addition to being ticketed will also be towed off the street.  The cost of this tow will be at the owner’s expense, (Visit the Police Department page) for a list of the rates for Ricci’s Towing who is contracted through the Town/Village of East Rochester.

IT HAPPENED ONE SATURDAY NIGHT — 60 YEARS AGO

According to a number of area sportscasters, it wasn’t supposed to happen that way—the East Rochester Bombers beating the Lyons Lions, 58-57.   While both basketball teams entered the game undefeated, Lyons was known as a powerhouse.  By looking at the history of the two teams, however, perhaps March 24, 1962, was destined to be different.  And what made the outcome of the contest all the more special was that it happened before a crowd estimated to be more than 10,000.

OUR FIELDS OF DREAMS: LITTLE LEAGUE IN EAST ROCHESTER

1952 Masons Little League Team

In December we often find ourselves reflecting on the year gone by.  Perhaps it was because of the memories of the 1989 movie, “Field of Dreams.”  Perhaps it was because the Chicago White Sox beat the New York Yankees, 9 -8 in the ninth inning this summer at the Field of Dreams site in Dyersville, Iowa.  This year our Local History Department received many requests for photos and articles on Little League teams of the 1950s and 60s. While we have many articles about teams and individual games, we have few team photos.  I did discover some interesting facts, however.
