Emergency Shelter Established in Pittsford

The Towns of Pittsford, Perinton and East Rochester have arranged for an overnight shelter for their residents who are without heat in their own homes.

The shelter is located at the Barker Road Middle School, at 75 Barker Road in Pittsford. The shelter opens at 6PM today, Friday, March 10 th and will remain open until 6PM on Sunday, March 12th. Visitors should enter through the main entrance to Barker Road School and sign in at the gymnasium.

Cots are available for sleeping. Those who wish to do so may bring an air mattress or sleeping bag. Those planning to stay overnight should bring their own bedding and pillow.

The Shelter at Barker Road Middle School will have warm drinks, Wi-Fi, and charging stations for cell phones and mobile devices. Visitors are welcome to bring food. Visitors will have access to the school's showers in the locker rooms. There will be round-the- clock security for the protection of visitors. Town staffers also will be present until 11pm each night to answer questions and provide assistance.
