Emergency Shelter Established in Pittsford

The Towns of Pittsford, Perinton and East Rochester have arranged for an overnight shelter for their residents who are without heat in their own homes. The shelter is located at the Barker Road Middle School, at 75 Barker Road in Pittsford. The shelter opens at 6PM today, Friday, March 10 th and will remain open until 6PM on Sunday, March 12th. Visitors should enter through the main entrance to Barker Road School and sign in at the gymnasium.

NYSEG and RG&E Responding to Widespread Outages

NYSEG and RG&E, subsidiaries of AVANGRID (NYSE:AGR), report approximately 125,000 customers are without power across the companies service areas as of 11am. More than 1,300 line workers, contractors, and tree contractors have been mobilized to respond to calls of more than 2,000 cases of downed wires. This also includes assistance from neighboring utilities Con Edison, Orange & Rockland, Central Hudson, PSE&G Long Island, and Canadian utilities. Crews have been working since Wednesday afternoon to protect public safety and address downed lines as strong winds caused extensive damage to power lines and structures in communities.

Fundraiser to benefit E.R. Community Resource Center

We so appreciate your help and support for our annual event. It will be Monday December 5, 2016 from 6-8pm at Perlos Restaurant. This year we are supporting the East Rochester Community Resource Center. We are asking for non-perishable food / canned good items that can be used for holiday meals. The items should be things typically found in holiday dinners. We will have Santa on hand for the kids, Legends radio is broadcasting live and we have a photographer capturing the event. The restaurant is open for our normal dinner service so folks can come for dinner as well. The restaurant will be decorated and we have a great turnout. We look forward to seeing you!

Book Fair to support The East Rochester Public Library

You are invited to a Book Fair to support The East Rochester Public Library. The Fair will take place at Barnes and Noble, Pittsford Plaza, on October 22, 2016 from 11am-2pm. There will be many activities for kids. The Friends of the Library will be given part of the proceeds from all sales at the store when you present your voucher or mention the voucher at checkout. Vouchers can be obtained at the East Rochester Library downtown, in the Main Office in the East Rochester Public Schools, or on the day of the event at the table manned by the Friends stationed in the magazine section of B&N. We would love to see you!

This is also Pete Rose promotional night so tickets are at a premium. The cost for the seats is $9.00 and the Red Wings are playing the Syracuse Chiefs beginning at 7:05 pm. This will be our first chance to recognize the 1966 Senior Little League World Championship Team. Notice of water tank demolition on Nov. 2.

Notice is hereby given that the old water tower located at 321 East Chestnut Street will be dismantled by Iseler Demolition Inc. on November 2, 2015. The tower will be taken apart piece by piece; the steel, material and all debris will be removed by the site by the demolition company. The lot will be leveled and clean when demolition is completed. The actual dismantling takes approximately 10 hours. The street will be closed to through traffic during this time. The projected length of time needed for clean-up and repair of the site is approximately 30 days from the date of demolition.

New E-Waste Policy Effective August 1, 2015

Beginning August 1, 2015, older style televisions and computer monitors containing cathode ray tubes (CRT's) will no longer be accepted for drop off at the Town/Village of East Rochester Department of Public Works garage located at 200 Ontario Street. To dispose of these items, you must bring them to an approved facility for drop off and there will be a charge for each CRT item. The DPW will no longer accept these items at their site.

15th Annual Ride for Missing Children

The 15th Annual Ride for Missing Children sponsored by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children/NY Regional Office will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015. Household Hazardous Waste Collection - May 16

Push Yourself for the Piersons - 5K fundraiser

5K run and 3K walk fundraiser benefitting the family of Officer Daryl Pierson. All proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to the Pierson family as a contribution to Officer Pierson's childrens' college tuition fund. There will also be concessions and a "50/50" raffle held after the run/walk.

Well, spring should be here soon (hopefully!) and with spring comes spring cleaning. The Parks Committee would like to remind all our residents, commercial business owners and any other concerned parties that we will gladly pick up any scrap metal you may have. Whether it's a coat hanger or an old furnace, your donation will go to the upkeep and enhancement of our parks and streets. Post Office to be renamed for Darryl Pierson

Please join us on Monday, February 2nd at the East Rochester Post Office for a press conference where Senator Schumer will announce legislation to rename the post office in honor of Darryl Pierson. The press conference will be held outside, in front of the Post Office. The area in front of the Post Office will be cleared of any snow.

Save the Date! 4th annual Christmas Festival on Dec. 13, 2014.

The East Rochester Christmas Festival will be held at several locations in and around the Town/Village of East Rochester on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014 from 9 am until 5 pm. Venues include the school campus on Woodbine Avenue, Quinzi Lodge at Eyer Park, the new Town/Village Office in the Eyer Building, and the Piano Works Mall ( ER Community Resource Center can drive). The Festival is sponsored by the ER Chamber of Commerce, with assistance from the Town/Village of ER, the ER Association of Churches, the ER Alumni Foundation, the ER Rotary, and the ER School District. For the past three years, it has provided visitors with activities such as music and caroling, children's stories, food and item vendors, games and crafts for all ages, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus and sales and giveaways by local merchants. This year, the Advent Craft Sale and PTA "Breakfast with Santa" will be held in conjunction with, and on the same day as, the Christmas Festival.

Residents of neighboring communities have reported getting calls from East Rochester Police officers soliciting funds for Daryl Pierson's family. South Lincoln Road Improvements

Remaining Work:
Remaining work on the project is scheduled to start on April 21, 2014 and consists of installation of small block retaining walls in four locations along the project corridor, installation of concrete sidewalk and asphalt driveways at these locations and permanent lawn restoration. The contractor will also complete any necessary pavement repairs from damage incurred over the winter season. This work is expected to be completed by May 30, 2014.

East Rochester/Fairport Little Brown Jug Reunion Set for July 24, 2014

One of the greatest high school football rivalries in western New York is being remembered and celebrated this summer in East Rochester, on the 75th anniversary of the year it began. Fans and participants in the Little Brown Jug series, an arch rivalry game between East Rochester and Fairport high schools that was played from 1939 to 1987, are invited to a commemorative reunion to be held Thursday evening, July 24. It will be part of opening night at the annual East Rochester Fire Department Carnival.

150 volunteers participated in the 7th Annual CleanSweep

Over 150 volunteers gathered for the 7th Annual CleanSweep event hosted by The Town/Village of East Rochester and the East Rochester Chamber of Commerce. Volunteer canvassed the community and picked up litter for three hours. The Parks Committee and Troop 136 planted trees in the local parks. Special thanks to Wegmans and Tim Horton's on W. commercial Street for food & beverage donations for the volunteers. Six pizzerias donated lunch for the volunteers and vied for the title of best Pizza at this year's CleanSweep event. The competitors were Crust Pizza Kitchen, Luca Brothers, Surace's, Salvatore's, Papa John's and Mark's. The winner was Papa John's.

Eyer Building Project

The Town/Village of East Rochester has applied to NY State for economic assistance in support of the Eyer Building Project. We are asking for your assistance and are requesting Letters of Intent from existing and vacant business owners in the surrounding area. These letters will help illustrate the economic impact/jobcreation that is possible from a project which will add 150 new parking spaces in the Commercial/Main Street area. The creation of these new parking spaces removes the single greatest barrier to continued revitalization of the town center and your business.

NYS Main Street Grant

The Town/Village of East Rochester is pleased and excited to announce that it has been awarded $500,000 through the New York Main Street grant program. Funding is provided through New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) and will be used to assist with the rehabilitation and revitalization of numerous commercial and residential units in the mixed-use downtown business district along Main Street and West Commercial Street.

E-Waste Policy: Effective January 1, 2013

Beginning January 1, 2013, the Town/Village of East Rochester has instituted new collection rules pertaining to all electronic waste in order to comply with the new state wide electronic waste collecting law. As part of this new law, landfills will no longer be allowed to accept any electronic waste collected by the Town/Village of East Rochester at their disposal sites.

Volunteer for the CleanSweep and Karknocker Events!

We now have an easy way for you to sign-up to volunteer at the CleanSweep and Karknocker events! The CleanSweep event is on May 17, and will cover 20 different service areas throughout our community. The Karknocker 5K event is on July 25th, and we need 30 to 35 volunteers to cover the race course and water/timing stations. We look forward to seeing you at these great community events!
