East Rochester Department of Public Works

Among its numerous duties, the DPW is principally responsible for:

  • refuse collection, recycling
  • yard debris and leaf pick-up
  • road maintenance
  • plowing and salting village roadways, lots & sidewalks
  • maintaining Village buildings, parks and recreation areas

The DPW also:

  • maintains and repairs 13 miles of storm sewer including catch basins
  • maintains and repairs 18 miles of sanitary sewer including 4 sewage pumping stations and 1 storm sewer pumping station
  • maintains, repairs and cleans 42 lane miles of road and road signage including 3 sets of traffic control units
  • performs crosswalk, parking and pavement striping
  • maintains all village owned trees, plants and mulch areas
  • is responsible for the mechanical operation, maintenance and repair of all DPW vehicles and equipment, as well as all police, ambulance and fire vehicles

Hours of Operation


October thru May ~ Monday thru Friday ~ 7:00 am to 3:30 pm

June thru September ~ Monday thru Thursday ~ 7:00 am to 4:15 pm & Friday ~ 7:00 to 11:00 am

After Hours Emergencies


If you have a sewer or similar type problem after working hours, on a weekend or on a holiday please call 9-1-1. Inform the operator of the problem and he/she will notify the DPW as soon as possible.

Monroe County ecopark


The ecopark is an innovative partnership between Monroe County and Waste Management of NY that provides county residents with a "one-stop drop-off" to dispose of or recycle certain items. The ecopark is a drop-off facility and, except for household hazardous waste (HHW) materials, residents are responsible for unloading their own vehicle. Learn more by visiting the ecopark website
