Report from the Fire Chief - July 2018

We are happy to report that Senator Funke’s office has notified us that we will be receiving a $4000.00 grant for Firefighter protection.  We have been very fortunate to receive funds for the last four years to assist with updating our radios to the new digital system thanks to Senator Funke.

I am happy to announce that Jarrett Doll has passed the Fire Department's new member training program and is now cleared as an Interior Firefighter. He will continue his training next year participating in the NY State class Firefighter 1.

Summer parade season is upon us and our department is participating in several firemen’s parades around the area again this year. The ERFD and Explorer post took several prizes at the Mendon Parade last month.

The East Rochester Firemen’s Field Days are weeks away.  Our famous chicken barbecue starts on Wednesday 7/25 at the fire house, from 5pm-till the chickens are gone. Thursday 7/26 – Saturday 7/28 is the Carnival where there will be live music, midway rides, food, beer tent and games of chance each night. Pay one price ride specials Thursday & Friday 6pm-10pm and Saturday 12pm-4pm. On Saturday, the fireman’s parade starts at 6:30pm and don’t forget the fireworks at 10pm. Presale ride tickets are available at the village office.  For more details and a list of the live bands, please visit us on the new website or Facebook. Come down, have a great time and support your local firefighters.

The fire department responded to (43) calls in the month of June, (12) of which were to our neighboring departments.

Respectfully,

Neal Herko

Fire Chief
