The deadline for scheduling an Informal Review has passed.
Grievance day is Tuesday, June 5, 2018. Beginning May 1, 2018 the Assessment office will begin accepting Complaint on Real Property Assessment (RP-524) applications for the formal review process. This application is available in our office at East Rochester Village Hall or on the village website link below.
All applications must be received by 8:00 PM on Tuesday June 5, 2018. Mailed applications regardless of postmark must also be received by June 5, 2018 so that the Board of Assessment Review (BAR) may review your application.
The Complaint application and all supporting documentation must be submitted prior to receiving an appointment. Appointments are made by the BAR in time sequential order for afternoon and evening on Grievance day. Please provide three additional copies of the application and all supporting documents for the Board to review.
About the Board of Assessment Review
The Board consists of village residents appointed by the Town/Village Board who have a general knowledge of property values in the community. Each Board member is trained and certified by the NYS Office of Real Property Tax Services. The volunteers on this Board hear complaints and have the authority to accept or deny a tax payer’s grievance. When accepting an assessment grievance, the Board has the authority to set a new assessment.
If you are unable to attend a formal review, you may mail or drop off four (4) copies of the RP-524 application with supporting documentation to East Rochester Village Hall, Assessment Office, 317 Main Street, East Rochester, NY 14445. Information must be receivedno later than June 5, 2018.
