After Hours Emergencies

If you have a sewer or similar type problem after working hours, on a weekend, or on a holiday please call 9-1-1. Inform the operator of the problem and he/she will notify the DPW as soon as possible.

The Department of Public Works is principally responsible for:

  • refuse collection, recycling
  • yard debris and leaf pick-up
  • road maintenance
  • plowing and salting Town/Village roadways, lots & sidewalks
  • maintaining Town/Village buildings, parks, and recreation areas
  • Spray Park maintenance

The Department of Public Works also:

  • maintains and repairs 13 miles of storm sewer including catch basins
  • maintains and repairs 18 miles of sanitary sewer including 4 sewage pumping stations and 1 storm sewer pumping station
  • maintains, repairs and cleans 42 lane miles of road and road signage including 3 sets of traffic control units
  • performs crosswalk, parking and pavement striping
  • maintains all Town/Village owned trees, plants and mulch areas
  • is responsible for the mechanical operation, maintenance and repair of all DPW vehicles and equipment, as well as all police, ambulance and fire vehicles

Monroe County ecopark

The ecopark is an innovative partnership between Monroe County and Waste Management of NY that provides county residents with a "one-stop drop-off" to dispose of or recycle certain items. The ecopark is a drop-off facility and, except for household hazardous waste (HHW) materials, residents are responsible for unloading their own vehicle. Learn more by visiting the ecopark website

RE: Walnut Street Restoration Information


Dear Resident,

On Saturday September 9th, Walnut Street settled and as a result the street has been closed due to safety concerns. The Department of Public Works has been working closely with Parrone Engineering, Villager Construction and Unicorn Management, who is the contractor working in the area that has settled.  On Wednesday, September 27th the Town/Village along with local utilities plan to excavate and determine the best course of action. What this means for residents is that we will ultimately be milling and paving the street after all the settling and compaction is complete.  Jim Baker, P.E. from Foundation Designs will be advising the Town/Village as to the best course of action and we will continue to post information on our website at as well as the bulletin board of ERCTV-12.
